The Bases of Professional Tailoring (400 hours) + Costume Design (800 hours)

DESCRIPTION

The costume designer course deals with the study of costume fashion. It starts from the earliest antique civilizations to the end of the 1900s through the twist of the centuries. It gives particular attention to the styles that characterized the history of costume in the twentieth century.
During the training course, the student will acquire solid theoretical and practical bases of historical period. The course describes shapes and models that characterized the most popular garments, fabrics and finishing of each period.
Each historical epoch will be approached by initial theoretical study and reproduction of ad hoc sketch. The students will eventually create in every detail a woman's and a man's garment of all historical period. Students will gain the techniques of using of fabrics, tailoring, decoration and finishing of each historical period.

• Hand and machine sewing techniques
• Technical data sheet for the manufacture of made-to-measure clothing
• Classic embroidery, high fashion embroidery and manual arts

DURATION AND FREQUENCY

Minimum frequency: 15 hours per week
Duration of the course: 18 / 24 months
Equipment supplied: Didactic cards, the manual of Il Teatro della Moda, Basic sewing kit

EXAMINATION AND CERTIFICATE

At the end of this second step of the course, the student will take a further assessment exam in front of a jury of internal members of the teaching staff and external sector professionals. At the completion of the exam, the student will obtain a professional certificate of Costume Designer.
Together with the certificate, the student will be given a detailed final evaluation form.

LESSONS

The days of the lessons will be agreed according to the needs of each student.
Limited number of students per lesson allows the best possible learning and assistance from the staff.
